The Rubicon Sanctuary is very special because of the range of ecological communities. About half is open woodland, with the drier sites being dominated by bracken (foreground). The shallow swamps are predominantly knee- to waist-high sedges (middle distance). All of these habitats support orchids, but some of the more intertesting orchids prefer the transition zones between the swamps and dry woodland. P |
